Introduction
A key member of the multidisciplinary team at each Centre is the Behçet’s Support Coordinator. The Behçet’s Support Coordinators are employed by the charity, Behçet’s Patients Support who work in partnership with the NHS and Behçet’s UK.
Behçet’s Patients Support, was established in 2012 to work in partnership with Behçet’s UK and three NHS England Trusts to provide non-medical support to patients attending one of the Behçet’s Syndrome Centres of Excellence.
The Behçet’s Support Coordinators, Jean Christians, Jacqueline Pooler and Rebecca Hyder, provide essential non-medical support to Behçet’s patients who attend one of the three Behçet’s Centres of Excellence at either the Royal London Hospital in London, City Hospital in Birmingham or Aintree Hospital in Liverpool.
Jean, Jacqueline and Rebecca are highly-motivated with experience in providing non-medical support. To patients registered at a Centre, they provide; advocacy ,consultancy and a coordination service for benefits advice and signposting for other assistance organisations. They are passionate about holistic care and are prepared to go the extra mile to meet the non-medical needs of patients registered at a Centre.
