The advice of the London Behcet’s Syndrome Centre of Excellence is that both vaccines are safe, and patients should have whichever vaccine is offered.
We are also checking the blood of patients, to see if they develop antibodies following the COVID-19 vaccination. Due to the medication used in Behcet’s disease, it is important to see if the patients develop an adequate immune response.
If you would like to provide us with a blood sample, please contact us to arrange this. Also, please let us know the dates of both doses of your vaccine and which vaccine you were given.
Finally, as the first dose does not provide maximum protection against COVID-19, patients should continue to shield until at least 10 days after their second dose has been administered, and continue to follow government advice.
